If you notice standing water pooling on top of your automatic pool cover the best thing to do is use your cover pump to eliminate that excess water, your cover pump will engage even in a few inches of water. Attach a hose to the pump and set it on top of your cover, once plugged in the ball valve under the pump with detect water and you will hear it kick on.
